Jamaica Kingsmen beat Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Kensington Oval to set up a Caribbean Premier League final against Antigua & Barbuda Falcons on Sunday. Shimron Hetmyer’s second hundred of the season was not enough for the Warriors.

Hetmyer made 100 off 45 balls and reached the mark from the last ball of the innings with a four off Andre Russell. Shai Hope and Quentin Sampson supported him as the Warriors posted 207. They had been 37 for 2 at the end of the Power Play.

Sadaqat and Carty set up the chase

Maaz Sadaqat gave the Kingsmen a flying start with 41 off 17 balls before Khary Pierre took a steepling catch to remove him at 42 for 1. Keacy Carty then made a half-century, with Kirk McKenzie helping to keep the required rate in check.

Wickets of Carty, Saim Ayub and Russell late on made things tense, but Rovman Powell stayed calm at the end. Hassan Khan sealed the win with a four. Powell also led a Jamaican side to the final in 2022. The Warriors miss out on a fourth successive final.

Shadab’s hat-trick books the Falcons’ place

The Falcons had become the first finalists a day earlier with a nine-wicket win over the same opponents. It was the second-fastest win in CPL history, and their first trip to a final.

Shadab Khan and Sufyan Moqim took four wickets each as the Warriors were bowled out for 76. Shadab’s hat-trick came in his second over: Hetmyer caught at long-on, Mehidy Hasan Miraz lbw on review and Sampson bowled by a googly. The Warriors went from 34 for 1 after the Power Play to 45 for 6.

Rahkeem Cornwall’s quickfire 49 made the chase a formality. Evin Lewis, battling cramp, took 21 off six balls from Shamar Joseph and hit the winning runs with only 32 balls bowled. Amir Jangoo finished the job with a boundary.

A repeat of the opening game

Sunday’s final replays the first game of this year’s tournament. It also gives the Kingsmen a chance to win the title in the year they returned to the competition.
